As a key economic hub in South America, Colombia has been vigorously promoting the renewal and expansion of urban infrastructure in recent years. Especially in the Bogotá – Medellín Highway Reconstruction Project — a vital transportation artery connecting the country’s two largest economic centers — the demand for high – efficiency concrete construction equipment has soared. This highway bears over 65% of Colombia’s inter – city freight volume and is crucial for promoting regional economic integration. To speed up the project progress and ensure the quality of road concrete pouring, a well – known local construction enterprise urgently needed compact, flexible and reliable concrete mixing equipment. Against this backdrop, we customized a 2.6CBM self – loading concrete mixer truck solution for the customer and completed the delivery in 2024, providing strong support for the smooth advancement of the highway project.
The 2.6CBM self – loading concrete mixer truck adopts a compact body design, with a width of only 2.3 meters and a turning radius of 5.8 meters, which can easily pass through narrow mountain road construction sections and realize flexible transfer between multiple work sites. At the same time, it integrates three core functions of aggregate loading, concrete mixing and on – site pouring. The single mixing capacity reaches 2.6 cubic meters, and it can complete the whole operation process independently without matching other auxiliary equipment. This integrated design shortens the concrete supply cycle by 35% compared with the traditional “mixing plant + transport truck” mode, fully meeting the high – frequency turnover needs of the highway reconstruction project.
In addition, the equipment is equipped with an intelligent touch – screen control system, which supports one – button start of mixing, loading and unloading operations. The system can automatically adjust the mixing speed and water – cement ratio according to the concrete grade, reducing the technical threshold for operators and ensuring the consistency of concrete quality.
Aiming at the high – altitude environment of the Colombian highway project, we have optimized the power system of the equipment. The matching turbocharged diesel engine has a special high – altitude adaptation module, which can automatically adjust the fuel injection amount and air intake ratio under low – oxygen conditions, ensuring that the power output does not decrease by more than 5% even at an altitude of 2,500 meters. The cooling system adopts a large – area radiator and a dual – speed fan design, which can quickly dissipate heat in high – temperature daytime and prevent the engine from freezing in low – temperature nights (the minimum working temperature can reach – 5℃), effectively coping with the large day – night temperature difference in mountainous areas.
The chassis of the equipment uses high – strength manganese steel, and the frame is reinforced by double – layer welding. The load – bearing capacity is increased by 20% compared with ordinary chassis. The 12.00R20 off – road tires with deep tread have strong grip, which can easily pass through muddy and gravel roads in the construction site and ensure the stability of the equipment during transportation.
After the equipment was delivered, we dispatched a professional technical team to the Colombian construction site within 7 days to carry out on – site installation and commissioning. The team completed the equipment debugging and trial operation in only 3 days, and conducted a 5 – day systematic training for 15 operators of the customer, covering equipment operation, daily maintenance, fault diagnosis and other contents. Each operator passed the practical operation assessment before taking up the post, ensuring that the equipment can be put into formal production quickly.
In terms of after – sales response, we have established a 24 – hour remote support hotline and a local spare parts warehouse in Bogotá. For general technical problems, the technical team can provide solutions through video calls within 1 hour; for spare parts replacement needs, the spare parts can be delivered to the construction site within 48 hours. This efficient after – sales service system has completely solved the customer’s worries about equipment maintenance.
Since the 2.6CBM self – loading concrete mixer trucks were put into use in March 2024, the construction efficiency of the Bogotá – Medellín Highway Reconstruction Project has been significantly improved. The daily concrete pouring volume of the project increased from 80 cubic meters to 130 cubic meters, an increase of 62.5%. The equipment can complete the concrete supply of 3 – 4 road sections every day, and the construction progress of the key mountainous sections has been advanced by 20 days. At the same time, due to the intelligent control of the equipment, the qualified rate of concrete meets the Colombian national highway construction standard (NTC 4030) and reaches 100%, which has been highly recognized by the project supervision unit.
“The 2.6CBM self – loading concrete mixer trucks from China have completely changed our construction mode! Their compact design is perfectly suitable for our mountain highway construction, and the high – altitude adaptation performance is even better than we expected. What impresses us most is the professional after – sales service — the technical team taught our operators hand in hand, and the spare parts supply is very timely. Now, these equipments have become the core force of our project. We will definitely choose your products for the next phase of the highway project and recommend them to other construction enterprises in Colombia!”
——Carlos Rodríguez, Project Director of Colombian Highway Construction Co., Ltd.
This project is a typical case of deepening cooperation between China and South America in the field of infrastructure under the framework of international economic and trade cooperation. By customizing equipment solutions according to the specific geographical and climatic conditions of Colombia, we have not only realized the export of high – quality construction machinery, but also exported advanced construction technology and service concepts. This cooperation model has laid a solid foundation for further expanding the market of self – loading concrete mixer trucks in South America and has become a bridge for enhancing economic and trade exchanges between China and South American countries.
The 2.6CBM self – loading concrete mixer truck adopts a low – emission engine that meets the Euro V standard, which reduces the emission of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter by 40% compared with the old – type equipment used by the customer before. At the same time, the equipment’s intelligent water – cement ratio control system can save 15% of water resources, and the high – efficiency mixing technology reduces the waste of concrete raw materials by 8%. These green and environmental protection designs are highly in line with the Colombian government’s “National Sustainable Infrastructure Plan” (2022 – 2030), which helps to reduce the environmental impact of the highway construction project and promote the sustainable development of the local construction industry.
The successful application of the 2.6CBM self – loading concrete mixer truck in the Colombian highway reconstruction project and the obtained five – star customer feedback not only demonstrate the excellent performance and localization service capabilities of China’s construction machinery, but also reflect the win – win cooperation between Chinese enterprises and overseas customers. In the future, we will continue to focus on the diversified needs of customers in different regions and climates, further optimize the performance of self – loading concrete mixer trucks, and provide more efficient, reliable and green “Chinese solutions” for the global infrastructure construction cause.
